Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has reacted to claim of yesteryears colleague Danish Kaneria that he was victimized and discriminated within the team because he was the non-Muslim.
On his Youtube channel Inzamam-ul-Haq – The Match Winner’ , said in the video:
” Im not ready to accept that we Pakistanis have such small hearts and wouldn’t accept others”.
The former captain refused the allegations and also gave example of religious harmony that existed not just in Pakistani players but also in Indian cricket team.
Here is whats said in the video:
” I often would see players of Indian Cricket team and Pakistani cricket team sitting in each other rooms, joking around and eating together”.
he also narrated that once President Parvez Musharaf invited me and the whole team and asked me i have heard that you only pick players who offers namaz or have beard and you dont select others. I said religion has its own place and cricket has its own, they dont mix.
Inzamam said that Mushtaq Ahmed was good friend of mine since childhood and we played all our cricket together. But I gave Danish Kaneria preference because he was Pakistan’s future and Mushtaq was dropped during my captaincy. So there was no such thing about namaz or prayer etc.
“I accept that we as a nation, Pakistan, our hearts are extremely large and we can acknowledge everybody in our souls. Our hearts have never been little to such an extent that we manage anybody thusly”
“I was disheartened to find out about this news since I was chief at the time. I don’t think this news is right and I don’t figure individuals should pay attention to it”.
